How to Know the Will of God?
By Peter Sarkis
All of us have
questions about our life. We want to know what
education path to take; we want to know what career to
pursue; we want to know where to live; we want to know
who to marry, etc. How do we know God’s perfect will
for our lives?

I SEEK AT THE BEGINNING
to get my heart into such a state that it has no will of
its own in regard to a given matter. Nine-tenths of the
trouble with people is just here. Nine-tenths of the
difficulties are overcome when our hearts are ready to
do the Lord's will, whatever it may be. When one is
truly in this state, it is usually but a little way to
the knowledge of what His will is.

"It
is very instructive and helpful to see the way in which Mr. Muller
proved the acceptable will of the Lord, when exercised in heart
about the enlargement of the Orphan work, so that not only 300 but
1000 Orphans might be provided for."

The Perfect Will of God for You
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your
bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable
service. And do not be conformed to this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is
that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Romans 12:1-2
What
is the most important thing that God wants from you? The most important
thing that God wants from you is to believe in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ:
Believing in Christ unto Eternal Life
And
this is the will of Him who
sent Me, that everyone
who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will
raise him up at the last day. John 6:40
The second most important thing that God
wants from you is to conform you to the image of His Son. He wants to make you like
His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. The second most important thing is
your sanctification:
For
this is the will of God,
your sanctification... 1 Thess. 4:3
Also God wants you to be thankful and not
forget all His benefits:
In everything give thanks;
for this is the will of God in
Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thess. 5:18
God also wants you to be a good steward in
your vocation; for you glorify God when you have a good testimony at your
work:
Being Good Stewards in Your Vocation
Not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as
bondservants of Christ,
doing the will of God from the
heart.
Eph. 6:6

He leadeth me,
O blessed thought!
O words with heav’nly comfort fraught!
Whate’er I do, where’er I be
Still ’tis God’s hand that leadeth me.
Sometimes mid
scenes of deepest gloom,
Sometimes where Eden’s bowers bloom,
By waters still, over troubled sea,
Still ’tis His hand that leadeth me.
Lord, I
would place my hand in Thine,
Nor ever murmur nor repine;
Content, whatever lot I see,
Since ’tis my God that leadeth me.
And when my
task on earth is done,
When by Thy grace the vict’ry’s won,
E’en death’s cold wave I will not flee,
Since God through Jordan leadeth me.
He leadeth me, He
leadeth me,
By His own hand He leadeth me;
His faithful follower I would be,
For by His hand He leadeth me.
