Dear friend,

You are cordially invited to attend Christ Bible Church’s 15th annual conference to be held on September 11-12, 2010. The theme is Revival. Please see the attached flyer for the speakers, venue, and schedule.

Many years ago I read from the pen of Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones that “revival is a misnomer.” I thought, “Well, that’s a strange statement” coming from one of my favorite authors, who happened to be an expert on the topic, “if there is one thing the church needed it was revival, therefore, how can it be misnamed.” My confusion gave way to clarity when Lloyd-Jones further explained that revival should be the normal experience of a believer and a local church, but since it is not, it has been elevated to a rare and extraordinary work of God that is rarely known. The good doctor remedied my confusion - but I was still depressed.

“Is it true”, I thought, “that we must accept the common belief that revival is a rare experience”? Can we only understand revival when reading about it in the museum of church history? Or can we indeed experience it personally and frequently? I believe the latter is the case. I don’t believe revival is an experience that should be relegated to the bone yard of history, but is desperately needed in our churches now.

When one sees the ever deepening apostasy of the church one can only believe that Jesus is coming soon. The level of idolatry, compromise, and worldliness in the churches is frightening. Revival is not an option any longer; it is the solution to a stifling deadness that has paralyzed the Evangelical church. Do you share my assessment? Is the growing apostasy a heavy burden on you? Do you yearn for deeper heart knowledge of Christ? Do you long to see the churches break free from the stranglehold of mediocrity and lukewarmness? God can indeed reverse these problems but are we ready for the solutions and are we committed to the goal of revival?

Join us as we look to the scriptures for answers and encouragement. We with grapple with topics as: The nature of revival, revival and the prayer meeting, the Holy Spirit and revival, revival and the individual believer, and much more. There will be panel discussions and opportunity for questions. All messages, meals and literature are free of charge. So join us and bring a friend.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Joe Jacowitz

Please note the change to the Sunday schedule. The conference starts at 11:00 A.M. not 2:00 P.M.
